A new study finds that people who ate the most fruits and vegetables were three times more likely to have not smoked within the last 30 days than those who ate the least amount of produce. This was true even after smokers’ age, gender, race/ethnicity, income and motivation were taken into account. Those who ate more produce also smoked fewer cigarettes, waited longer to smoke their first cigarette of the day, and were less dependent on nicotine
