This article from Tobacco Control identifies YouTube, the 3rd most popular website in the world, as having the potential to influence tobacco-related attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors toward little cigars and cigarillos (LCCs). In a recent study, a YouTube search was conducted using little cigars, cigarillos, Black and Mild, Swisher Sweets, White Owl, Garcia y Vega, and Winchester as search terms. The search identified 136 videos, that were then rated pro, anti, or neutral to the use of LCCs. Findings show that the majority of videos were pro-LCCs. The authors suggest creating and uploading to YouTube relevant health-related messages to counter pro-LCC messaging.
