Address some of the most pervasive myths about cigars with the reality checks listed on this fact card designed especially for a military audience. Some of the facts we know about cigars: even if you don’t inhale cigar smoke directly it is easily absorbed through saliva and you’re still breathing in dangerous secondhand smoke; cigar smoke contains high levels of cancer-causing substances and toxins; a single cigar can provide as much nicotine as an entire pack of cigarettes; and even occasional cigar use damages the lungs and impairs physical fitness. This last fact has serious implications for military readiness. Includes California Smokers’ Helpline information. Also available as a poster (J360).
